2025 Tasmanian Riesling

The Bird in Hand Tasmanian Series is a limited release, crafted to harness the cool-climate terroir and produce wines of distinct character and elegance. It is an ode to winemaking in the rugged wilderness of Australia’s final frontier.

Grapes were sourced from Bird in Hand's West Tamar vineyard in northern Tasmania. The site enjoys a gentle north-easterly aspect, offering optimal exposure to morning sun while being sheltered from prevailing westerly winds. Its proximity to the Tamar River provides a moderating maritime influence, helping to regulate temperature extremes and extend the growing season. 

Handpicked and sorted fruit underwent whole bunch pressing and only the free run juices were used for this wine, capturing the finest expression of the fruit. Cold settling, followed by cool fermentation ensured preservation of fruit forward characters, followed by six weeks on light lees to enhance mouth feel.
         
The nose is lifted and alluring, with vivid notes of lime blossom and mandarin peel leading the way. Freshly cut green apple and white peach bring a crisp, mouthwatering edge, while soft floral tones of elderflower and jasmine lend a graceful aromatic lift. The palate is vibrant and precise, anchored by crisp, refreshing acidity that gives the wine excellent definition. Bright citrus characters shine through, with zesty lime and juicy grapefruit taking centre stage.
