2022 Bird in Hand Nero d'Avola

One of the first producers in Australia to make this variety back in 2011, our 2022 Nero d’Avola has evolved to an elegant contemporary style through meticulous fruit selection and modern winemaking techniques that puts purity of fruit at the forefront. Fruit from the McLaren Vale region provides depth of flavour and weight that compliments the bright and delicate Adelaide Hills component.

A combination of winemaking techniques was used to develop a complex flavour profile. Different batches underwent partial and full crushing along with some whole bunch inclusion. Concrete egg and large format barrels for maturation (9 months), resulted in a wine that retains the natural fruit characters whilst subtly adding weight, texture and spice to the flavour profile.  

Medium density with vibrant purple hues, the Nero d’Avola is richly aromatic with notes of red cherry, raspberry, Turkish delight and floral notes.

With wonderful fruit weight and intensity, on the palate, this medium-bodied red wine has pure varietal flavour and elegant structure leading to a long finish.  Enjoy whilst young or savour this wine at its apex over the next 4-5 years.
